a modest proposal (with apologies to Ms. Smith)

Proposition to further feminist goals: vast rewriting of history a la 1984. Replace all hes in the history books with shes. Plato, Napoleon, Beethoven, Marx, Picasso, Hitler, recast them all as women. Let our daughters think that the world has always been run by women and maybe they will run it, since that’s ‘tradition,’ ‘how things are.’ Possibly will need to be accompanied by some rather severe affirmative action—men stay home with the kids; no male execs; just for a generation or two. Until we shake off the psychic baggage. Time for a fresh start, that’s what I say.
